Performance Ensemble

The Performance Ensemble (PE) was set up to offer ELLSO members the chance to play more demanding pieces than are possible on a Saturday morning. Players need to be grades 5, 6 or above. We also welcome string players who are not ELLSO members, plus wind players.

Our repertoire includes Corelli’s Christmas Concerto, Bach’s Double Violin Concerto, Handel’s Concerto Grosso Op 1 No 6 and Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto. This term we have been learning Beethoven’s Symphony No 5 and during the next two terms we will continue with this, together with Mozart’s Violin Concerto No 5 and Locatelli’s Op 8 No 1. We play at ELLSO’s end of term concerts and will perform at our own concert on Saturday 10 July 2010.

The ensemble is welcoming and enthusiastic and adheres to ELLSO’s democratic principles. Its special quality is the attention to detail given to all the pieces we learn. Leo Patsalides is our inspirational conductor.

We meet on Thursday evenings from 7.15pm to 9.45pm in St Anne’s Church, Limehouse. If you are interested, please come and play with us for a session to find out if you’d like to join.
