Learn to play
Led by experienced and committed tutors, ELLSO has a well established system for helping adults learn to play music for the first time or improve their existing skills. ELLSO members are friendly and enthusiastic and willing to tackle a wide variety of music even though, as late starters, some have not yet reached a high standard technically.
We have music sessions throughout the year, but ELLSO’s core activity is on Saturday mornings. We meet from 9.30am to 1.30pm at the Phoenix Primary and Secondary School, 49 Bow Road, Bow, London, E3 2AD. (Between Mile End and Bow Road tube stations). View Map
The teaching year starts in September and runs to July. We welcome complete beginners in September, but more experienced players can join throughout the year. The end of term concerts allow members to show off what they’ve learnt. At the end of year concert in July we include the very popular ‘Have a Go’ session, where guests can try out an instrument and join in a specially arranged composition. See Free concerts for dates and details.
