Stage 1 - One year beginner course

Upper strings

  • Holding instrument, posture, plucking
  • Bow hold within 1st half term (string changes)
  • Put fingers on towards end of 1st term
  • G, D, A scales (C, D, G for violas) 2nd term
  • Moving 2nd fingers back
  • Two octaves G and C major, one octave F major
  • Slurs (3 notes in a bow) towards end of the year
  • Simple rhythms throughout the year (affects bow speed)
