Discovering and joining ELLSO has meant the fulfilment of a childhood dream I had long given up on: Learning to play the violin.
And ELLSO isn't just about learning to play the instrument, delving into music theory, and being part of an orchestra from the very start - it has also introduced me to a truly wonderful group of people who share a passion for being part of this joyful, music making community.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my first year and can hardly believe how much we have learned in such a short space of time and just how many different and diverse pieces of music we have played and performed already.
Saturday mornings at ELLSO are a welcome antidote to a busy life - shifting the focus away from work or challenges towards the present moment and the simple delight of making music with others.
It's been so much fun learning to play while being part of such a friendly, encouraging community along the way!
